Consolidate FAQ
Q: How do I consolidate useless brc-20 mint and transfer inscriptions using the UTXO Management Tool?
Tips: Lower fee = more BTC in your pocket! Consolidating is optimal when network fees are <3 sats/vB!
Q: What are useless inscriptions? Will merging them affect my BRC-20 assets?

There are currently two types: brc-20 Mint inscriptions and used brc-20 Transfer inscriptions.
These types of brc-20 inscriptions have no value and are not linked to your brc-20 asset holdings. Merging and spending them will not affect your brc-20 balance.
However, each inscription typically occupies 294–546 sats. If you have a large quantity of these types of useless inscriptions, they can take up a significant portion of your balance. Consolidating them when the fee rate is low can help you reclaim at least 60% of usable BTC.
Q: Since useless inscriptions include brc-20 Transfer inscriptions, are minted but unused brc-20 Transfer inscriptions safe?
Yes, they are safe. Valid and unused brc-20 Transfer inscriptions will not be classified as useless inscriptions and will appear in the "UTXO list".
Q: Will consolidated useless inscription UTXOs become spendable BTC in the wallet?
Yes. After consolidating, they usually exceed 600 sats and will appear as available balance in the wallet.
Q: Why does consolidating useless inscriptions UTXOs consume high gas fees?
Gas fee = fee rate × virtual transaction size. The more inputs a transaction has, the larger the size, and thus the higher the fee. We recommend merging when fees are relatively low to process.
Q: Is there a service fee for consolidating useless inscription UTXOs? Will I earn points?
You get three free consolidations up to 1500 UTXOs each month, effectively no charge. For consolidate with a service fee, corresponding UniSat Points will be awarded. More details here.
Unlock UTXOs under "All UTXOs" tab FAQ
Q: How do I unlock assets using the UTXO Management Tool?
Tips: Before unlocking, make sure the UTXOs’ assets are useless/unwanted to avoid losing anything valuable.

Q: Can unlocked inscription/runes UTXOs be used directly as BTC in the UniSat wallet?
Yes, and there are two cases:
If the UTXO is >600 sats, your available balance in wallet will update its amount after unlocking, and it can be used directly as BTC.
If the UTXO is <600 sats, your available balance won’t update. It cannot be directly selected in the wallet for sending. You must go to the UTXO Management tool https://unisat.io/utxo to send it. (Detailed steps here)
Q: Why do unlocked UTXOs get locked again after being used?
If a UTXO contains assets that UniSat can recognize—such as inscriptions or runes, the system will require you to manually confirm and unlock it before each spend to ensure your assets remain secure.
Q: Can unlocked inscription/runes UTXOs be sent to other addresses such as exchanges' wallet addresses? Will they turn into available BTC?
Yes, if you do not wish to keep these assets, you can send them anywhere. *Whether they appear as available BTC on any platform depends on whether that platform recognizes and locks the asset. If not, they will show up as unavailable BTC.
Q:How many UTXOs can I unlock or merge at once?
You can unlock or merge up to 500 UTXOs at a time. We may improve this limit in future updates.
Q: If I select UTXOs on the current page, then go to the next page, will my selections be saved?
No. Currently, selection is only valid on the current page. If you have many UTXOs, please increase the number of items displayed per page at the bottom, and use the category filter in the top right to narrow your list.

Q: Will unsupported small UTXOs be spent automatically in my UniSat wallet?
If your address has unsupported protocol assets stored in UTXOs under 600 sats, you cannot spend them directly unless you manually select and send them via our UTXO Management tool https://unisat.io/utxo. Please operate with caution when doing so.
Q: Why does it say "Not enough BTC UTXOs available for network fee payment" when splitting BTC? This occurs when the user only has one BTC UTXO or selects all BTC UTXOs for splitting, leaving none to pay the network fee. Solution: Reserve enough BTC from the split amount to cover the fee.
